Rulai Named a Cool Vendor in AI for Conversational Platforms by Gartner
Rulai today announced that it has been named a Cool Vendor based on the July 24, 2018 report titled, “Cool Vendors in AI for Conversational Platforms” by Van L. Baker, Werner Goertz and Jason Wong at Gartner, Inc. The report evaluates emerging vendors that application leaders should watch in order to take advantage of the disruption they will bring to all markets.
Gartner’s report notes, “Chatbots and virtual assistants allow users to engage with the technology without having to understand how to access an application or website, or learn how to use the same. This “no learning” use of technology is inherently appealing to users as they merely need to ask for what they want — the responsibility for understanding the request lies with the conversational platform.
Additionally, conversational user interfaces can be very efficient, allowing users to accomplish in one request what might require several steps in an application.” The report also provides recommendations for application leaders who want to capitalize on conversational platforms in order to utilize this post-app technology to facilitate the transition to digital business should:
- Start with a narrow set of intents or questions that they want to be able to address via a conversational platform. Avoid implementations that attempt to address diverse use cases. If needed, add more intents after the initial implementation or deploy additional chatbots to expand the capabilities.
- Take all factors into consideration that impact these technologies, such as the group(s) to be served and the attributes of the conversational platform — tone, personality, sentiment, emotion — that are conveyed to users by the conversational assistant or chatbot.
- Incorporate separate training of each conversational assistant or chatbot for each use case the enterprise wants to support. Avoid rushing to deploy this emergent technology, given the compelling value proposition.
“In our view, it is a unique honor to be named a Gartner Cool Vendor,” Yi Zhang, Co-founder and CEO of Rulai. “We feel that our recognition aligns with the feedback that we have received from customers and partners. Our users cite the ability to quickly and easily deploy chatbots as well as simulate conversation.”
From our perspective, the information provided in the report is of value to all organizations seeking to implement AI chatbots.
